Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy

What is the structure of Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (CBT-I)?

CBT-I consists of the initial assessment session and follow-up sessions that occur on a weekly basis through telehealth means. While benefits can be derived after 1-3 sessions, treatment usually lasts for 6-8 sessions.

Do you treat children or adolescents?

Yes. I offer treatment for pediatric insomnia and parent consultation for sleep training in infants and children.

Which geographic regions do you serve?

I am now providing care to all PSYPACT certified states (APIT #19031), including Florida. Unsure if you qualify? Send me a message and I will confirm.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

I conduct gifted testing in person, but all therapy is done through telehealth formats for the foreseeable future.

What technology do we use for virtual sessions?

I use a HIPAA-compliant platform through Healthie. I will be at a computer during the video session, and you can use either a computer or mobile device to join me.

What are your hours?

I offer evening and weekend hours for therapy. Gifted testing is conducted on weekend mornings.

Do you take insurance?

No. I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a detailed “superbill” for therapy sessions, which you can provide to your insurance company for possible reimbursement (CPT code: 90837).

What is the cost of therapy?

At the initial assessment session you will receive psychoeducation related to the disordered sleep concerns, a proposed treatment plan, recommendations, and referrals, if appropriate.

Initial assessment (90 minutes) self-pay rate is $300.
Follow-up therapy session (60 minutes) self-pay rate is $200.

What are the benefits of private pay therapy?

Since insurance companies are not involved, private mental health information will be kept confidential, unless you would like for me to coordinate with other providers. You will have more flexibility in choosing providers and in determining frequency and duration of sessions. Private pay can also lead to greater continuity of care since there is no need to operate within network restrictions, preauthorization requirements, or changes in coverage.

Assessment

What is the structure of the gifted evaluation?

The gifted evaluation consists of the interview, assessment, and preliminary feedback. The entirety of the evaluation is conducted in 2-3 hours to allow for breaks, the natural pace of the child, and questions the parent may have. Testing is conducted in the morning or early afternoon when the child is feeling at their best. A comprehensive digital report is provided within 5 business days.

Do you only provide gifted testing for children?

I test adults as well as children. Testing adults can be beneficial for establishing cognitive abilities across workplace settings, joining Mensa International, and meeting qualifications for many medical procedures.

Is gifted testing covered by my insurance?

No. Gifted testing is for educational purposes and healthcare insurance is for health/medical purposes. A “superbill” can still be provided to see if they will accept the claim.

What is the cost of gifted testing?

Age range: Individuals ages 5-years-old to adulthood
Office testing fee: $700
Concierge testing fee: $850
